My full name is Guadalupe Martinez, but please call me Lupita, it means little Lupe. I was born in La Jolla, CA but I was raised in Oceanside, CA. I went to Laurel Elementary K-6 where the only two things I learned were to read and write. I moved to San Marcos during the 7th grade and attended San Marcos Junior High. Unfortunately, I had zero math abilities that resulted in a struggle to keep a high GPA. Miraculously, I taught myself the necessary math skills to achieve Honor Roll both years of junior high. I may not be a genius but I know how to work hard in order to accomplish my academic goals. I went from zero math expertise to an A+ in Geometry, which lead me to achieve an overall GPA of 3.79 in high school. My math teacher even suggested to become an Engineer. However, I knew since kindergarden that I wanted to be an educator. When I was in the 4th grade, I had a tutoring session at my house for my younger neighbors. I've always had a passion for teaching the children. Then I came to find out that I was born to be a teacher, and that I can make a difference in the world of education.

I may not be a computer whiz; nevertheless I have sufficient knowledge to survive in this world of technology. I have to admit that I could not live without my cell phone or Ipod. I own a PC computer and DELL laptop but planning to purchase a MAC notebook. I have zero knowledge as well as zero experience with MAC computers, but excited about 422. I strongly believe the class will help me become proficient with MAC. I'm currently using Microsoft Office 2007 and love it.

I strongly believe in the College of Education's Mission Statement. I respect the fact that Cal State San Marcos appreciates diversity by educating students about various cultures. As we know, Southern California is a "melting pot;" therefore as a future teacher it is extremely important to be culturally intelligent. I'm looking forward to the Teaching Credential program for CSUSM College of Ed has the reputation for creating distinguished teachers.
